About the Healthy Mosques Study
The Healthy Mosques Study explores the role mosques can play in promoting health and wellbeing within their communities.
Many people face barriers to accessing reliable health information, preventative care, and support services. As trusted community spaces, mosques can play an important role in raising health awareness, encouraging healthy lifestyle choices, and connecting people with health and wellbeing services.
We are working with mosque leaders (including imams), local charities, and healthcare professionals to deliver a health programme in mosques across England and Wales. The programme, which was co-developed with community members and healthcare partners, includes health screening (such as blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol checks), health education, and referrals to appropriate healthcare services when needed.
What we learn will help improve future mosque-based health programmes and support better health and wellbeing in Muslim communities across the UK.
